Recapio is a Chrome extension that helps you take timestamped notes and generate AI summaries and flashcards on course videos (Udemy, Coursera and YouTube). This policy explains what data Recapio handles and why. We comply with the GDPR (EU) and LGPD (Brazil).
What we process
- Your notes — the notes you type and the timestamps you capture are stored locally in your browser (
chrome.storage.local), per video. They are not uploaded to our servers.
- Install identifier — a random id is generated on first run and stored in
chrome.storage.sync. We use it only to tie your Pro entitlement and your daily free-AI count to your installation. It is not linked to your identity.
- AI requests — when you ask for an AI summary or flashcards, the lecture's title, the on-page transcript (when available) and your own notes are sent to our backend, which forwards them to OpenAI to generate the result. This text is processed in transit and is not stored by Recapio.
- Billing data — if you subscribe to Pro, payment is handled by Stripe. We store only your install id, subscription status and Stripe customer id to know whether you are Pro, plus an email you optionally provide to recover your license.
What we do NOT do
- We do not collect or sell your browsing history.
- We run only on the supported course sites (udemy.com, coursera.org, youtube.com), and only to show the notes panel and read the video transcript/title when you use a feature.
- We do not store the content of the videos or transcripts on our servers.
Third-party processors
- OpenAI — to generate AI summaries and flashcards.
- Stripe — to process subscription payments.
- Vercel / Upstash — hosting and entitlement storage.
Your rights
Your notes live on your device — clearing the extension's storage removes them. To delete your billing record, or to exercise any GDPR/LGPD right (access, deletion, portability), email support@chpx.com.br.

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected here with a new date.
